Detailed Imaging for Joints,
Bones & Soft Tissues
An Orthopedic MRI is a safe and powerful way to get a clear look at your bones, joints (like knees, shoulders, hips, ankles, or wrists), and soft tissues (like muscles, ligaments, tendons, and cartilage). At Mosaic Diagnostics, we use advanced MRI technology to help doctors figure out what’s causing pain, injuries, or other issues, from sports injuries to conditions like arthritis. Our goal is to provide accurate, detailed images so you can get the right diagnosis and treatment plan, all while keeping you comfortable and informed.
What Can Orthopedic MRI Detect?
What Can Orthopedic MRI Detect?
Common Conditions Diagnosed Our Orthopedic MRI scans are designed to spot a wide range of issues affecting your musculoskeletal system. Whether you’re dealing with an injury from sports, ongoing joint pain, or something more serious, our scans provide the clarity doctors need to understand what’s going on. Here’s what we can detect:
- Ligament tears, like ACL or MCL injuries in the knee
- Tendon tears or inflammation, such as rotator cuff issues in the shoulder
- Cartilage damage or wear, which can lead to joint pain
- Muscle strains, tears, or overuse injuries
- Fractures, including tiny stress fractures that X-rays might miss
- Arthritis or other joint degeneration causing stiffness and discomfort
- Bone tumors or infections that need prompt attention
- Causes of joint pain, swelling, or instability in any joint
- Spine-related issues (explore more on our Spine MRI page)
MRI for Joint Health

Perfect for checking ligaments (like ACL, PCL, MCL, or LCL), meniscus tears, or cartilage wear. It’s often used for athletes or anyone with knee pain or instability.

Shoulder MRI
Great for diagnosing rotator cuff tears, impingement, labral tears, or shoulder instability, helping you get back to pain-free movement.

Hip MRI
Used to find labral tears, avascular necrosis, or causes of hip pain, ensuring accurate diagnosis for better treatment.

Spine MRI
Focused on back and neck issues, like herniated discs or spinal injuries.

Ankle & Foot MRI
Ideal for spotting ligament or tendon injuries, stress fractures, or causes of ankle and foot pain.

Wrist & Hand MRI
Helps diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome, ligament tears, fractures, or other wrist and hand issues.
The Procedure
Getting an Orthopedic MRI at Mosaic Diagnostics is simple and stress-free. You’ll lie on a padded table that slides into the MRI machine, which looks like a large, open tube we also offer Open MRI for extra comfort. Depending on the joint being scanned, you may need to position your arm, leg, or body in a specific way, but we’ll guide you. The scan takes about 30–60 minutes, and you’ll hear some loud tapping or buzzing noises (we provide earplugs or headphones). Just relax, stay still, and it’s over before you know it! Our team is here to answer any questions and ensure you feel at ease throughout.
Expert Interpretation
Your Orthopedic MRI results are reviewed by Dr. Feldmann, who has specialized fellowship training in musculoskeletal imaging. This expertise means your scans are analyzed with precision, ensuring no detail is missed. Dr. Feldmann works closely with your doctor to provide clear, actionable insights, helping you get on the path to recovery faster
Why MRI for Orthopedics?
Unlike X-rays, which are great for bones but not much else, an Orthopedic MRI shows detailed images of soft tissues like ligaments, tendons, and cartilage, as well as bones. This makes it perfect for diagnosing complex injuries or conditions. Plus, it’s completely safe, using no radiation—just magnets and radio waves. At Mosaic Diagnostics, our advanced MRI technology delivers crystal-clear images, giving your doctor the information needed to create a treatment plan tailored to you
